Bruce Russell was born in 1946 and is Professor Emeritus of Fine Art at Kingston University London. and Visiting Research Professor at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University. He studied at Chelsea School of Art before becoming one of the first Cheltenham Fellows. Russell has taught at many art schools including Chelsea School of Art and Central St Martins. He established the Polytechnic Gallery at Newcastle Polytechnic (now the University of Northumbria), and the Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University London. Bruce Russell has been making abstract paintings for forty years, exhibiting in Britain, Europe and the Americas. He lives in rural Hampshire, creating his paintings in converted stables.
